Guess Which Actress Broke TV’s 38-Year Diversity Drought?

From the Department of It’s About Damn Time: America, I give you network TV’s first African-American
female dramatic lead since Nixon. It doesn’t hurt either that she stars on the best-written show on television. 

We’ve railed against the lack of diversity on network TV before. If Hollywood keeps repeating what it believes to work, then the world could use a few more shows with strong female protagonists of color. Let’s celebrate the ones that get it right.
